Karl A. Sandoval

Lead Deputy County Counsel

Karl Sandoval joined the Office of the County Counsel in 2012 and leads the Office’s Equal Opportunity and Employment Investigations team. He has extensive experience in civil litigation in state and federal courts, and has represented the County and individual County employees in many complex, multi-plaintiff actions, with an emphasis on employment matters. Shortly after joining the County Counsel’s Office, Karl was lead trial counsel in a vigorously-contested employment discrimination case in federal court that resulted in a jury verdict for the County. Karl has tried 13 cases to verdict, ten of which were jury trials. He has spent 17 years in public service, including seven years as a federal prosecutor.
