Mark A. Gonzalez

Lead Deputy County Counsel 

Mark Gonzalez joined the Office of the County Counsel in 1999 and has been the lead attorney for the Probate Section since 2006.  His primary practice areas include probate, probate litigation, financial elder abuse, conservatorships, and conservatorship and trust administration.  Mark has successfully tried over a hundred probate and Lanterman-Petris-Short (LPS) Act matters and has obtained significant financial recoveries on behalf of financially exploited elders.  Mark also presently serves on the Office’s Professional Ethics Committee and the Santa Clara Probate Mediation Task Force. 

 Mark’s professional expertise includes:

  • Probate and mental health conservatorships
  • Conservatorship and trust administration, including advising the County’s Public Administrator/Guardian
  • Probate and elder abuse litigation
  • Decedent estate administration
  • Aviation law
