Office of the County Counsel
The County of Santa Clara’s Office of the County Counsel is an award-winning public law office. Our work impacts the health, safety, and well-being of the 1.9 million people who live in Santa Clara County.
We provide legal advice and guidance to County departments to support them in delivering important government services. These include, but are not limited to, healthcare delivery, supportive housing, child dependency and adult protective services, public safety and justice, labor relations and personnel matters, land use, risk management, public finance, elections, government operations, data privacy, and property management. We handle nearly all of the County’s civil litigation, including employment, personal injury, breach of contract, civil rights, taxation, environmental law, and affirmative litigation.
Our office and attorneys have drawn numerous recognitions over the years. We owe our distinguished record of performance and service to our dedicated team of more than 250 staff members, including 110 attorneys practicing in virtually every area of civil law.
