The Social Justice and Impact Litigation team litigates high-impact cases, drafts innovative local ordinances, and develops new policies and programs to advance the County’s goal of achieving social and economic justice for all its residents and to promote local, state, and national public policy reform. The Team also defends the County in select cases with the potential to significantly affect the County’s ability to provide critical safety net services to vulnerable residents. The Team is part of a growing movement to use the power and unique perspective of local government to better serve the community and to drive long-lasting change. More information about the Teams' cases and projects is available here.
Since 2008, the Social Justice and Impact Litigation team has sponsored a Fellowship Program that selects talented new lawyers and trains them to become local government litigators and advisors with the skills necessary to advance justice in the County and beyond.
